King Charles and Queen Camilla's Horses Win Three Races at York and Newbury

King Charles and Queen Camilla had three horses win races on Friday, securing victories at York and Newbury racecourses. Portcullis and Warrant Holder triumphed on the Knavesmire at York while Point Of Law won at Newbury, completing an exceptional afternoon for the royal racing operation. All three horses are trained by father-and-son duo John and Thady Gosden.

Portcullis, a colt sired by Frankel, won its debut in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket prior to Friday. William Buick rode the even-money favourite to victory in the Darley EBF "Confined" Novice Stakes at York. The task became easier when main rival Weheedd was pulled up early in the one-mile contest.

Warrant Holder, a four-year-old gelding, won the Support Macmillan Charity Raceday on June 13 Handicap at York at odds of 11-4. The horse beat Thunder Run by a length after racing with a tongue-tie fitted for the first time. At Newbury, Point Of Law won the Coolmore City Of Troy EBF Maiden Stakes as the 4-7 favourite.

The colt improved on a runner-up finish at Yarmouth to secure the victory. The Gosdens won the same Newbury maiden race in 2019 with Logician, who went on to win the St Leger later in the 2019 season. As the memorable afternoon of racing unfolded, King Charles was present at the Royal Windsor Horse Show alongside the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

The royal couple attended the event with him on Friday. The Royal Windsor Horse Show continues through to Sunday. The prestigious equestrian event features show jumping, driving and endurance competitions.

It culminates with the Rolex Grand Prix on the final day. Windsor Castle's private grounds are opened to the public exclusively during this annual showcase, which also includes military displays and showing classes across four arenas.
