King Charles Sends Message Marking 250 Years of US Independence

King Charles sent a message of congratulations to the United States marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence. The note, addressed to President Trump, described 2026 as a truly historic milestone and a moment of great celebration for Americans everywhere.

The message portrayed the UK-US relationship as one of extraordinary evolution that overcame past conflict to become one of the closest and most productive alliances the world has seen.

It stated that the relationship rests on friendship, trust and a belief in liberty, the rule of law and the dignity of all people. King Charles referenced his state visit to Washington DC in May, during which he observed the enduring bond between the countries first-hand.

He expressed a deep appreciation of the shared responsibility to protect the natural world, saying decisions on this issue would shape prosperity and national security for future generations.

"The connection between our people is one that I trust will only grow stronger with time," King Charles stated. Officials have scheduled flyovers by hundreds of aircraft and a fireworks display in Washington DC for Saturday. The display is set to begin after remarks by the President and is promoted as the largest in the nation's history.

President Trump has stated that the 2026 Washington DC fireworks display would be the largest fireworks show in history. In New York, the Times Square Ball will drop eight times to mark midnight across U.S. time zones.

Philadelphia will host a concert featuring performers including Christina Aguilera at the site where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776.
