King Charles Stars in Birthday Tribute Film for David Attenborough
A BBC film released on 8 May 2026 shows King Charles writing a handwritten card for David Attenborough's 100th birthday. The card is delivered to Attenborough's home by a series of animals after a fallen tree blocks a vehicle. It shows the King writing a letter in which he reflects on more than 60 years of friendship with the Planet Earth presenter.
The signed card is handed to a waiting Land Rover by a butler carrying it on a silver tray. A fallen tree then blocks the car from completing the delivery. A rescue effort by animals follows, beginning with Flynn the border collie.
Eagles, an otter, a fox and a deer take part in delivering the letter, which ultimately reaches the letterbox of Attenborough’s home. The animals are described in the film as creature couriers. The tribute was released one day before Attenborough's birthday on 9 May.
It forms part of the public celebrations for the naturalist's centenary.
