Kiwoom Heroes Defeat SSG Landers 6-0 to Extend Winning Streak

The Kiwoom Heroes defeated the SSG Landers 6-0 on Thursday at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. Catcher Kim Gun-hee hit a first-career grand slam in the third inning after the Landers starter loaded the bases. The ball traveled 130 meters to straightaway center.

Right-hander Raul Alcantara threw eight shutout innings for the Heroes. He allowed only three hits and struck out eight batters while using a mix of fastballs, forkballs, and sliders.

The Heroes added two more runs in the seventh inning on RBI singles by An Chi-hong and Lee Hyung-jong. Reliever Kim Jae-ung pitched a scoreless ninth inning to finish the game. Alcantara said after the game that pitching in front of his family helped him focus. He noted that he felt better with each inning and was pleased to throw many innings for the team.

The win improved the Heroes record to 19-26-1 and moved them out of last place. The NC Dinos dropped to the bottom after losing 1-0 to the Doosan Bears. The Landers lost their fourth straight game and fell to 22-22-1.
