Knicks announcer Mike Breen discusses team chemistry and Jalen Brunson

Breen said New York has long been a basketball town and that the current Knicks roster embodies the team-first aspect of the sport. He noted that years of losing have made fans especially eager for a championship run.

Team chemistry Breen said the players are connected, unselfish, and quick to credit teammates rather than themselves after games. He added that the group has sacrificed individual statistics for collective success.

Breen described Jalen Brunson as mentally one of the strongest players he has covered, comparing his toughness to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. He said Brunson studies defenses, adjusts quickly, and moves past both strong and weak performances without lingering.

Breen stated that Brunson has already changed the franchise's direction and perception in his fourth season, regardless of the Finals outcome.

Coaching and roster moves Breen said coach Mike Brown created a collaborative staff that seeks input from assistants and players. He noted Brown has adjusted lineups and schemes throughout the season without panicking during ups and downs. Breen said Karl-Anthony Towns shifted to a facilitator role after a conversation with Brown, raising the team's offense.

He added that Towns has accepted a reduced scoring role to help the team win. Breen said the Knicks acquired Towns after trading Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, moves that ended the prior core but brought a player from the New York area willing to sacrifice.

Defensive and role players Breen called OG Anunoby a top-five defender who can guard any position and has added consistent offense through extra work. He said Josh Hart earns fan support by diving for loose balls and performing the less visible tasks.

Breen also noted Mikal Bridges has raised his level in the playoffs after earlier inconsistency and that three Villanova alumni on the roster have drawn attention from his family.
