Knicks Hold Ticker-Tape Parade After 2026 NBA Title Win

The New York Knicks received the city's traditional ticker-tape parade on June 18, 2026, after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals. The route ran up the Canyon of Heroes along Broadway from Battery Park to City Hall, where Mayor Zohran Mamdani presented keys to the city.

NYPD sources estimated attendance exceeded one million people. Viewing pens reached capacity more than two and a half hours before the start. A dozen arrests for disorderly conduct occurred, with no major incidents reported.

At the ceremony, Knicks owner James Dolan addressed younger fans who had waited a lifetime for a title. "We're very, very happy to have brought you a championship," he said. He added that the organization would continue working to improve the team. Team president Leon Rose credited the fans.

"Last, and most importantly, to the greatest fans in the world, we did it for you," Rose said. He listed the key roster moves that produced the starting lineup.

Head coach Mike Brown, 56, described the season's emphasis on sacrifice and connection. "You saw a team sacrifice time after time after time after time throughout the course of the year," Brown said. Finals MVP Jalen Brunson thanked owner James Dolan and the front office for believing in him.

"Damn, New York, we really did it, man," Brunson told the crowd. He added that proving doubters wrong required no further comment.

Knicks legend Patrick Ewing rode in his own car during the parade. Former player Rod Strickland called the season "incredible" and said he was proud of the current roster. The Department of Sanitation began clearing ticker-tape immediately after the event. Subway service skipped several Lower Manhattan stations, and bus routes were suspended in the area during the parade.
