The New York Knicks erased a 14-point deficit in the third quarter and outscored San Antonio by 17 points in the second half to win Game 1 of the NBA Finals 105-95 at Frost Bank Center on Wednesday night. Josh Hart played only seven minutes in the first half after picking up early fouls.

He returned for the final 24 minutes and recorded a team-best plus-22 rating while grabbing 15 rebounds, dishing six assists and recording four steals.

Hart on the bench, the Knicks trailed by seven at halftime. Once he re-entered, New York began chipping away at the lead and eventually took control behind defensive stops and transition play. Hart said he knew he needed to be aggressive after limited first-half minutes.

“I had a lot of energy. I think I only played like seven minutes in the first half,” he said. “I knew I had to come out, be aggressive.

“That’s just who he is. He’s always been that way. I can’t explain it. He just has a knack for doing things like that, and in crucial times as well.”

Jalen Brunson, June 3, 2026 (New York Post)

The victory extended New York’s franchise-record playoff win streak to 12 games. Hart has been a consistent contributor throughout the postseason run, often excelling in the exact areas his team needs most on any given night.
