New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson is undergoing surgery on his left wrist. He is expected to return to basketball activities later this summer. Brunson played through the injury during the Knicks' championship run.
The team defeated the San Antonio Spurs in five games to claim its first NBA title in 53 years. Brunson averaged 32.6 points, 4.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals across the five Finals games. He scored 45 points in the 94-90 series-clinching Game 5 victory, including 15 in the fourth quarter.
During the 2025-26 regular season Brunson averaged 26 points and 6.8 assists. In the postseason he averaged 28. Brunson became the 13th player under the modern playoff format to average at least 28 points for a title-winning team.
The Knicks signed him to a four-year, $104 million contract in July 2022. He turns 30 on August 31.
