The New York Knicks have recorded 13 straight victories since dropping a first-round playoff game to the Atlanta Hawks on April 23. Hawks guard CJ McCollum, who hit the game-winning shot in that contest, posted the highlight on X on June 6 and wrote, "Sick.
" McCollum had scored key baskets and gestured toward the Madison Square Garden crowd during the series. The Hawks took a 2-1 lead after his Game 3 winner before the Knicks won the next three games to advance.
Knicks postseason path After eliminating the Hawks, the Knicks swept their next two opponents and opened the NBA Finals with consecutive wins. Jalen Brunson has scored the decisive points in the final two minutes of both Finals games, the first player to do so in consecutive contests since at least 1971, according to ESPN.
McCollum's performance McCollum averaged 11.3 points on 39.5 percent shooting in the final three games of the series after Josh Hart took the primary defensive assignment. His former teammate Hart limited McCollum's production as the Knicks completed the comeback.

Rick Brunson, an assistant coach for the Knicks and father of Jalen Brunson, intervened when an opposing player attempted a staredown during Game 2 of the Finals. The Knicks last reached the NBA Finals 27 years ago.
