A Kodiak 100 seaplane made a hard landing in New York City’s East River on July 5 after a flight from East Hampton. The aircraft came down near the marina at East 23rd Street and the FDR Drive in Manhattan. The FDNY received a call just after noon reporting a plane in the water.
Fire department units reached the site and removed all eight passengers from the seaplane. The aircraft remained upright after the landing. Two passengers sustained minor injuries and were evaluated by EMS personnel on scene.
Both declined further medical treatment, the FDNY said. No other injuries were reported. Crews began towing the seaplane back to a dock shortly after the rescues.
