Kostyuk defeats Krueger 6-4 6-4 at Wimbledon

Marta Kostyuk defeated Ashlyn Krueger 6-4 6-4 in the fourth round at the All England Club on Monday. Kostyuk broke serve in the final two games after trailing in the second set. Krueger had earlier taken a 4-2 lead in that set before Kostyuk won four consecutive games.

Match conditions Play occurred in high heat and wind.

Kostyuk said the surface became more difficult the longer the match lasted. Krueger had played 17 consecutive grass-court matches before facing Kostyuk.

Post-match comments "I feel like I still cannot process this happening," Kostyuk said after the match. She added that she struggled to break serve for most of the contest and was pleased with her final two service games. Kostyuk next faces either Jasmine Paolini or Alexandra Eala.
