Large U.S. Companies Account for Most AI Job Postings
Data from Indeed shows that nearly 90 percent of AI-related job postings come from just 1 percent of companies. Adoption rates reach 49.9 percent among the largest firms and 1.3 percent among the smallest third.
forbes.comA recent Indeed report found that AI-related hiring in the United States remains concentrated among a small number of large employers. As of April 2026, more than 5 percent of job postings on the platform mentioned AI.
U.S. firms had posted at least one AI-related job on Indeed by late 2025, up from roughly 2 percent in 2018. About 4 percent of all job postings mentioned AI at that time. Nearly 90 percent of those AI-related postings came from just 1 percent of companies. 3 percent among the smallest third. Sectors most exposed to AI are seeing growth in job demand, according to the analysis.
Gudell, chief economist at Indeed, said during a panel at the 2026 Fortune Workplace Innovation Summit that the pace of transformation is being overestimated while the long-term impact is being underestimated. She added that companies should use current data to prepare for future changes.
Becky Schmitt, chief people officer at PepsiCo, said the company is working to keep all parts of the organization aligned on AI initiatives. She recommended standard processes and common data sets to make AI tools scalable across different locations.
