Lark Voorhies' Mother Describes Obsessive Fan Letters from 'Saved by the Bell' Era in Docuseries

Tricia Voorhies stated she was afraid to let Lark answer the door for a period of time due to the fan.

Tricia Voorhies explained she was less worried about the fan when Lark was on the 'Saved by the Bell' set due to layers of security. 'You can have fans that are very dark and obsessed. Lark had one fan in particular that was very dark.

He sent many letters,' Tricia Voorhies stated. She noted the fan was 'demanding' in his correspondence. The episode marks a rare public interview for Lark Voorhies, who appeared onscreen in it. Lark Voorhies starred on 'Saved by the Bell' from 1989 to 1993 when she was 15 to 19 years old.

She dated co-star Mark-Paul Gosselaar from 1989 to 1992. Voorhies was linked to Martin Lawrence in 1994. Voorhies was married to Miguel Coleman from 1996 to 2004. She was married to Jimmy Green in 2015 and they divorced in 2015.

None of the men has publicly disclosed whether they heard from the obsessive fan. She had a career gap from 2001 to 2008. Voorhies, now 52, is not retired and said she looks forward to continuing to work.

Lark Voorhies was diagnosed with schizoaffective thought disorder in 2015. She publicly disclosed her diagnosis in 2020. Dr. Drew Pinsky, who appeared in the docuseries, stated that schizoaffective thought disorder typically manifests between ages 18 and 22.

Dr. Drew Pinsky stated that symptoms of schizoaffective thought disorder include hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized speech. He explained that the condition is different from schizophrenia, does not progress, and is less disabling.
