Officials from several countries will meet at Downing Street on Sunday to discuss maintaining Western support for Ukraine. The gathering follows a week of intensified fighting and the rejection of a proposal for face-to-face negotiations.

A large-scale Ukrainian drone attack struck St Petersburg on Saturday, the second such strike on the city in a week. Ukrainian forces also reported hitting five vessels in the Sea of Azov on Friday that were allegedly carrying seized grain and military supplies.

A Ukrainian drone accidentally detonated in Romania’s Constanta port after Russian electronic warfare disrupted its navigation. Overnight into Saturday, Russian forces struck three districts in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 30 times with drones and artillery.

One person was killed and three wounded in those attacks. Russian strikes across Ukraine earlier in the week killed at least 13 people and injured 70 others, officials said.

The Kremlin stated that substantive talks between experts must occur before any leadership-level summit. Ukraine’s ability to reach deep inside Russia has grown since spring with domestically produced long-range weapons.
