Leaked Footage Shows Hunter Biden Questioning Protection Days After 2023 Plea Deal
Footage from a documentary in progress shows Hunter Biden speaking animatedly on a phone nine days after reaching a plea agreement on tax and gun charges. The clip was recorded by Kevin Morris, who provided more than $6.5 million in loans to Biden and followed him with a film crew from 2021 to 2024. Biden later received a pardon in 2024 and has not repaid the loans, according to reports.
abcnews.go.comLeaked footage from a documentary in progress shows Hunter Biden appearing panicked and short-tempered days after reaching a plea deal with federal prosecutors in 2023. " and "Who am I protected by, Georges? " The conversation appears to be with his former New York City-based art dealer.
The footage was recorded in what appears to be Biden's Malibu art studio and later at his home where he holds his toddler son while discussing a painting. The documentary is being made by Kevin Morris, a writer and lawyer who loaned Biden more than $6.5 million for personal expenses and back taxes.
Morris had been trailing Biden with a film crew between 2021 and 2024. The crew recorded gallery openings in Los Angeles and New York, court appearances on tax evasion and gun charges, and even traveled to Serbia where they were accused of disrupting the set of another film about the Biden family.
Under the terms of the plea deal made with Delaware prosecutors, Biden would have received two years of probation instead of jail time on the felony gun charge and pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors for failure to pay tax on more than $1.2 million in income for 2017 and 2018.
Biden was later pardoned in 2024 shortly before the end of the prior administration. He has not repaid his debts to Morris and currently owes a total of $20 million, much of that to his former lawyers, according to reports.
The art dealer ended his contract with Biden in September 2023, shortly after the filming. The dealer was later brought before a House committee investigating Biden's art sales. " The footage also includes press clips about the controversy surrounding the sale of Biden's artwork while his father was president.
One clip shows Republican lawmakers urging the attorney general at the time to appoint a special counsel to investigate the art sales. " It is not clear when the documentary will be released. Morris did not return a request for comment. Biden's attorney also declined to comment.
