On 25 May a 13-year-old boy died at Leadbeater Dam near Halifax and a teenage girl’s body was recovered at Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire. Also on 25 May a man in his sixties suffered a cardiac arrest while assisting two relatives at Tregirls Beach in Cornwall; the relatives were rescued by bystanders.
Further deaths were recorded on 26 May at Rother Valley Country Park in Rotherham and at Hawley Lake on the Hampshire-Surrey border. On 27 May a 12-year-old boy died in the River Ribble at Ribchester, Lancashire, and a 17-year-old boy’s body was recovered from Pickmere Lake in Cheshire.
On 28 May a teenager’s body was recovered near Swanscombe in Kent and a 14-year-old boy died in the River Thames at Donnington Bridge, Oxfordshire. On 29 May a 16-year-old boy’s body was recovered from Bracklinn Falls near Callander in Stirlingshire.
A 15-year-old girl who entered the water at Formby Beach on 25 May was pronounced dead in hospital on 31 May. On the same day a 19-year-old man died after being recovered from Balderton Lake in Nottinghamshire. On 1 June a 13-year-old girl died after being reported missing in the River Wharfe near Burnsall in North Yorkshire.
