LeBron James Says He Would Pick Himself as Top NBA Player

LeBron James said he would not rank any other player above himself in the basketball GOAT debate. The comment came during an interview with Time published Monday. He added that a general manager selecting from a baseline of top players would find it difficult to pass on him with the first pick.

James addressed whether he sees himself as more influential than Michael Jordan. He said people who grew up during Jordan's career would name Jordan, while those from his own era would also name Jordan. "My journey is my journey," James said. "I know what I've brought to the table.

He said his decision to continue playing or retire will depend on his mental commitment to the required preparation. "When I'm not in love with getting to the arenas on game days five hours before to start my preparation, if I'm out of love with getting to practice 2½ hours beforehand, then I know I'll be done," he told Time.

James holds the NBA's all-time scoring record. He has won four championships, earned four MVP awards, and appeared in 22 All-Star games.
