ESPN’s Shams Charania said on July 14 that LeBron James is inching closer to a decision on where he will play his 24th NBA season. Charania stated on NBA Today that general managers, presidents and owners have made their cases and that players have reached out directly to recruit James. He added that all voice notes have been listened to and that rosters have been set around the league.
Charania identified five remaining suitors: the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves. He said James has made clear privately that he wants to join a team where he can compete for a championship and find happiness in the environment and culture. James’ agent Rich Paul offered a different emphasis the same week.
Appearing on the “Game Over” podcast with Max Kellerman, Paul said there is no firm timeline. “There is none. I wish I knew,” Paul said. “He’s taking his time. He’s really evaluating things. I’ve really left him alone.
