Leinster confirmed that Ireland winger James Lowe will leave the province at the end of the season. Lowe, 33, joined Leinster in 2017. He has scored a club-record 71 tries in 101 appearances and won five United Rugby Championship titles plus the 2018 Champions Cup.

International career Lowe earned 45 caps for Ireland after qualifying through residency rules and debuted in 2020. He helped the team win two Six Nations titles, including the 2023 Grand Slam, and represented the British and Irish Lions in their 2024 series win over Australia.

Lowe is set to play his final game for Leinster in the United Rugby Championship final against the Bulls at Croke Park on 19 June.

Statement and future plans In a statement, Lowe said the decision comes with a heavy heart and that not everyone gets a fairytale ending. He described Ireland as home and expressed pride in representing the country 45 times. Lowe has been linked with a move to Japan's Suntory Sungoliath.

Such a move would end his Ireland eligibility under current Irish Rugby Football Union policy, which requires players to be based in Ireland.
