Lexi Thompson, 31, Will Miss U.S. Women's Open for First Time Since 2007 After Failing to Qualify

"At the time, I was just excited to be there. " She added that missing the event for the first time since 2007 was "definitely not a great feeling," but she remained proud of competing in 19 straight Opens by age 30. Thompson is competing part-time on the LPGA Tour.
She was ranked outside the top 75 in the Rolex World Rankings, one path to entry. Her best finish in four LPGA events this season was a tie for 12th at the Chevron Championship; she missed the cut in two others.
