LG Energy is expanding production of cylindrical batteries at its factory in Nanjing, China. @SawyerMerritt reported the move follows rising demand for Tesla electric vehicles, including the Model Y. The company has operated its existing cylindrical battery lines at full capacity.
Utilization of those lines has risen steadily since late 2025. The Model Y was China's best-selling passenger vehicle of any fuel type last month. It achieved the ranking despite carrying a higher price than every other vehicle in the top 10.
