Lindt Partially Reverses Price Increase After Sales Decline

Lindt partially reversed its earlier price increase after Easter chocolate sales declined. The company had raised prices 11.8% across its group, a move BBC News reported contributed to revenue shrinkage in the first half of 2026, especially in the UK, Germany and Switzerland. Overall sales dipped 0.9% in the period.
European sales fell 2.1%, while sales by volume declined 7.5%. Pre-tax profit dropped 1.5%. Europe accounts for more than half of Lindt revenue. Weaker Easter demand and a drop in tourism from Asia and the Middle East due to geopolitical uncertainties added to the pressure, BBC News reported.
Airport sales also decreased amid ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and lower passenger traffic. Sales rose in North America, Australia, China and Japan. In response, Lindt adjusted prices and increased marketing in certain regions for the second half of 2026.
Chief executive Adalbert Lechner said the actions focus on volume recovery in the second half of 2026 and lay the foundation to regain volume growth momentum in 2027.
