LIV Golf Korea Begins Second Edition at Busan Course

LIV Golf Korea opened its second edition Thursday at Asiad Country Club in Busan. The first-round shotgun start followed a two-hour window when gates opened at 11 a.m. Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau began play on the first hole while music played from speakers. Fans lined fairways and filled merchandise areas before the round.

Music continued during play, a departure from standard tournament silence. Playlists included tracks from AC/DC, Beastie Boys, Guns N' Roses, and other artists as groups teed off. Merchandise tents offered apparel and accessories tied to the 13 LIV teams. Fans could also use practice areas and a miniature-golf setup before the round.

Golf, backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund since its 2021 launch, faces uncertainty after the fund said in April it would end support after this season. Reports indicated the circuit is seeking up to $350 million from new investors. Some spectators said they were attending for the first time and expressed disappointment if the event series ends.

Korean DJ Peggy Gou is scheduled to perform Saturday evening.
