Disney's live-action Moana adaptation grossed about $43 million at North American theaters over its opening weekend ending July 12. The total came in below Boxoffice Pro projections of $45 million to $55 million. Overseas markets contributed an estimated $52 million, for a worldwide opening of $95 million.

The film carries a reported production budget of $250 million before marketing costs. Theaters typically keep about half of ticket sales revenue. The opening trailed the Lilo & Stitch remake, which debuted with $146 million in 2025 and later exceeded $1 billion globally.
The first animated Moana earned $56. Moana 2 grossed $139.7 million over the traditional Thanksgiving weekend in 2024 and $225 million across the full five-day period. Children's features led the weekend.
Minions & Monsters collected $20.5 million in its second weekend. Toy Story 5 added $18.5 million, bringing its North American total to $403.7 million. Separately, the Michael Jackson biopic Michael crossed the $1 billion box office threshold after its April 2026 release.
