Liverpool Campaign Adds Recycling Sites for Student Move-Out
Liverpool City Council and local universities are running the Leave Liverpool Tidy campaign to collect reusable goods from student housing. Two new drop-off points and an expanded collection service opened this year.

Students leaving accommodation in Liverpool over the next few weeks are being asked to donate or recycle items rather than discard them. The annual Leave Liverpool Tidy campaign, run jointly by Liverpool City Council and the city's universities, has added two temporary recycling drop-off sites and a new collection service.
A container on Webster Road in Wavertree accepts donations on scheduled days until July. Additional drop-off locations will operate for two days at the end of June at Asda on Smithdown Road and in Kensington Fields.
Last year's pilot collected 12 tonnes of waste for reuse and raised more than £17,000 for charity. Donated goods are given to the British Heart Foundation and the Salvation Army; unopened food goes to FareShare Merseyside. Cabinet member Laura Robertson-Collins said the end of term creates pressure to clear housing quickly.
She noted that extra bin collections and street cleaning will run during the busiest period. "Moving out can be a hectic time and we know it often comes with a big clear-out," Robertson-Collins said. " The campaign targets terraced houses along Smithdown Road in Wavertree and in Kensington, areas with high student populations.
