Liz Truss Tells CPAC UK She Blocked Self-ID Reforms and Challenged the Civil Service and Bank of England

GB News reported that Liz Truss declared herself "Britain's number one fighter against the blob" while speaking at CPAC UK. She made the statement after being questioned by Charlie Peters about her earlier support for certain gender policies as a Conservative minister. Truss served as Equalities Minister under the Conservatives.

She said she stopped a self-ID policy introduced by Theresa May that would have allowed men to identify as women with no checks, balances, or medical records. Truss added that she faced criticism in the House of Commons from Stonewall and PinkNews for opposing the reforms. "I'm proud to be the minister who stopped it," she said.

Truss argued that no one in the Conservative Party had challenged the institutional establishment more than she had. She stated that the Bank of England deliberately sabotaged her plans when she was prime minister. Truss used her speech at the event to argue that unelected institutions including the civil service, judiciary, and Bank of England wield too much influence and have frustrated Conservative policies.
