A 64-year-old bus driver was seriously assaulted on Battersea Bridge early Monday morning and taken to hospital by air ambulance. Police arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Kampen said officers are working to establish the exact circumstances of the attack. She noted the incident took place on one of London’s busiest bridges and appealed for anyone with information, dashcam or mobile phone footage to come forward. “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family as enquiries continue,” Van Kampen said.
Siwan Hayward, director of security, policing and enforcement at Transport for London, said the organization condemns all forms of violence and is supporting the police investigation. Hayward added that Transport for London takes workplace violence seriously and remains committed to protecting staff across the network.
