London Fire Brigade Responds to Golders Green Supermarket Fire

London Fire Brigade received the first of 56 calls shortly after 06:45 BST to a three-storey building on Golders Green Road. The building is producing a significant amount of smoke, the brigade said.
Fifteen fire engines from Willesden, Finchley and West Hampstead are at the scene. A storage area to the rear of the shop is also affected. Police are assisting with evacuations. A nearby rest centre has been set up for those affected.
Road closures are in place on Golders Green Road near the junction with Beverley Gardens. Traffic is disrupted on the A406 North Circular in both directions between Brent Cross and Henlys Corner. The cause of the fire is unknown but is not believed to be suspicious, said Craig Carter, Assistant Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade.
The brigade advised people in the area to keep their windows and doors shut. A Met Police spokesperson said it is too early to have determined the cause. There are no reported injuries.
