Lorde told fans at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid on July 10 to avoid Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses. The Verge reported that during her set she said, “You don’t know if someone is wearing sunglasses or if they’re wearing those fucked up fucking… Can I just say, for the record, fuck the glasses. Don’t get the glasses.
She first thanked the crowd for taking part in “something real” and observed that it was increasingly hard to know what is and isn’t real. Videos of the remarks were shared on social media. Ray-Ban sponsored the festival and has collaborated with Meta on the AI smart glasses.
The Verge reported that Meta is planning a pair of “super sensing” glasses that are continuously recording. Jennie of Blackpink, a Ray-Ban Meta AI ambassador who has appeared in the brand’s Instagram campaigns and in a video screened between sets at the festival, performed after Lorde.
