Louisiana Republican Primary Sends Sen. Bill Cassidy to Third Place
Sen. Bill Cassidy placed third in the Republican primary for his U.S. Senate seat on Saturday, failing to advance to the June 27 runoff. Trump-endorsed Rep. Julia Letlow and Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming will compete in the runoff.

Fleming will face each other in the June 27 runoff. Letlow was endorsed by President Trump. Fleming previously served as a White House deputy chief of staff during President Trump’s first term.
Cassidy voted to convict President Trump during the 2021 impeachment trial. He also clashed with Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over changes to federal vaccine recommendations.
