Lunar Occultation of Venus Visible Across U.S. on June 17
The crescent moon will pass in front of Venus for about an hour during daylight hours on Wednesday. The event marks the first such daylight occultation visible over the U.S. in 11 years.

King added: “Or if you'd prefer, pull out a pair of binoculars and point it at the moon. ” An hour after sunset on June 17, a 12%-lit waxing crescent moon and three bright planets will be visible in the western sky. The Beehive Cluster (M44, Praesepe) in Cancer contains around 1,000 stars.
