Lynx Coach Reeve Says Napheesa Collier Remains Team Leader
Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve stated Saturday that the franchise still runs through Napheesa Collier despite her injury absence. Olivia Miles has emerged as a starter for the WNBA All-Star Game while averaging 18.5 points per game.

Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve said Saturday that the team still belongs to Napheesa Collier even as the franchise prepares for her return from injury. Reeve made the comments ahead of the Lynx matchup against the New York Liberty and offered no timetable for Collier's season debut. "With regard to her insertion, it's still Phee's team," Reeve said.
"There is not anybody that walks into the gym that doesn't know that it's still Phee's team. " Collier finished second to A'ja Wilson in the WNBA MVP race in both 2024 and 2025. She recently returned to practice after undergoing dual ankle surgeries in the offseason.
Reeve added that it remains premature to name any other player as the team's leader. Olivia Miles has filled the void in Collier's absence. The rookie was voted a starter for the WNBA All-Star Game in Chicago in two weeks and is averaging 18.5 points and 5.7 assists per game.
The Lynx enter the weekend tied with the Las Vegas Aces atop the standings at 16-6. Reeve set the WNBA record for most regular-season wins by a head coach after the Lynx defeated the Connecticut Sun 86-80 on Wednesday. She said Collier will benefit from playing alongside a point guard like Miles once both are on the floor together.
