Abu Dhabi healthcare company M42 has begun pitching its genomic sequencing platform to governments and pharmaceutical companies around the world while rolling out AI chatbots tailored to patients with chronic diseases. The firm will launch a research center in June 2026 marketed to pharmaceutical companies using genetic information gathered in the UAE for drug development.

It is also launching an AI chatbot for kidney patients in the UAE and parts of Europe on May 13, 2026.

“Countries, for years, were focusing on building the hospital, the next patient clinic. Now they understand that the future of health goes through the availability of data,” chief executive Dimitris Moulavasilis said. M42 has gathered and sequenced nearly 1 million genetic samples under the Emirati Genome Program, a population-level effort led by the Abu Dhabi Department of Health.

Those samples include genetic material from some 100,000 non-Emiratis. The genetic data is being used to match patients to the right medication based on their genetic profile, screen newborns for treatable conditions, and reduce the incidence of hereditary diseases. Semafor reported that M42 would like to replicate this model and sell it to other countries.

“We’re actively pitching it,” Moulavasilis said. The company has signed a preliminary agreement with Uzbekistan and could build on a project in Jordan to digitalize the healthcare system there. Governments in the Global South and Southern Europe have shown interest in M42's model.

The ambitions reflect a broader shift as countries move beyond traditional hospital construction toward data-centric health systems. 5 billion in 2023. com is M42’s first condition-specific AI chatbot platform.

The company plans to add more chatbots tailored to other chronic diseases. A second chronic disease condition management platform was in development as of May 13, 2026. com platform is planned for Saudi Arabia, South America, and the US.

The platform is currently meant to help patients understand their condition, manage their health between clinic visits, and engage more actively with their care. M42’s longer-term ambition is for the platform to function as an AI assistant that coaches patients, supports clinicians, connects with wearable devices, uploads test results to electronic medical records, and creates what Moulavasilis called a “holistic service” aimed at reducing hospitalizations and overall costs.

M42 was established as a joint venture between Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala and AI conglomerate G42 in 2023.

Mubadala invested in Whoop’s latest fundraising round in April 2026, valuing the wearables company at $10 billion. com rollout and global genomic pitching come as the UAE maintains business operations amid regional tensions. Patient and procedure numbers at M42 facilities, which include Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, fully recovered last month after a slow March.
