A 36-year-old man carried out a machete attack in Edinburgh on Friday, injuring five people before being arrested. The suspect first slashed two men near a mosque in the western portion of the city, authorities said. He then injured three additional people on Leith Walk.
Video showed the shirtless suspect being held on the ground during his arrest. While being handcuffed, he shouted: “I’ve told you time and time again, I’m protecting the country from these f–king Muslim bastards. Raping our young daughters, raping our kids.
Enough is enough. ” MEND Scotland stated that several of the victims are Muslim. ” “To our community: stay vigilant, look out for one another, and please report any Islamophobic hate crimes to the police,” a spokesperson for the Muslim Council of Britain said.
The incident is being investigated by counter-terrorism police, according to The Scottish Sun. The suspect has not been publicly identified.
