macOS 27 public beta adds subdued Liquid Glass design and menu bar overflow

The macOS 27 Golden Gate public beta is now available to users with M-series Macs. The release focuses on performance tweaks, bug fixes, and smaller quality-of-life changes rather than a major redesign.
Design and interface updates The most visible change is a more subdued Liquid Glass aesthetic that reduces transparency. Unified corner radii and updated File Explorer sidebars are also included. A new overflow button appears in the menu bar when too many items are present. Items to the left of the notch are hidden behind a double-arrow icon that expands them on demand.
Photos changes Siri now offers customizable pacing and expressiveness settings in preview. Users can select from five levels each for a male or female American accent. The Photos app adds a Clean Up tool that removes selected objects from images. Reframe and Extend tools allow composition adjustments and background expansion, though results vary.
Stability and availability The public beta is reported to match the stability of the third developer beta. It is available now for users who want to test the changes ahead of the full release scheduled for fall.
