Madonna Releases 15th Studio Album Confessions II, Sequel to 2005 Dance Record

Madonna released her 15th studio album Confessions II. BBC News reported that the record serves as a sequel to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor and is her first full project since Madame X in 2019. The album opens with dance tracks produced with British musician Stuart Price, who co-wrote the original Confessions on a Dance Floor and worked on Madonna's Celebration tour.

Madonna told Interview magazine that she and Price agreed the new album had to be as good as or better than the 2005 release. One track, Bring Your Love, is a duet with Sabrina Carpenter. The song premiered live at the Coachella Festival and later reached number 29 on the UK singles chart.

Madonna told Vogue Italy that she began work on Confessions II without focusing on charts or streaming metrics. Later tracks turn autobiographical. Madonna grieves her late brother Christopher on the song Fragile.

Another track, Betrayal, addresses the 2024 death of her stepmother Joan Ciccone from cancer. Madonna appeared onstage with her daughter Lourdes Leon during the 2023-24 Celebration tour, and the pair trade verses on the song The Test. Madonna previewed material from the album during a concert in New York's Times Square last month.

She has sold more than 400 million records and holds the Guinness World Record as the most successful female recording artist of all time.
