Mamdani Ally Defeats Incumbent in New York Democratic Primary

Brad Lander, the former New York City comptroller, defeated two-term U.S. Rep. Daniel Goldman in Tuesday's Democratic primary for New York's 10th congressional district. Lander, who had the endorsement of both Mayor Zohran Mamdani and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, will face Republican Jennifer Moore in the November general election.
The district covers lower Manhattan and Brooklyn brownstone neighborhoods.
Goldman first won election to the seat in 2022.
Lander's victory places him in a strong position in the heavily Democratic district. Lander was acquitted earlier this month on charges related to a protest inside a building housing an immigration court. He has pledged to push back against President Donald Trump's administration.
