Man Charged With Assault After Cellphone Strikes Baby Near Bryant Park

Marc Okon, 49, was arrested on Saturday after allegedly striking a baby girl with a cellphone near Sixth Avenue and West 41st Street outside Bryant Park in Manhattan, the New York Post reported. Okon was charged with assault and child endangerment. He was awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court as of late Sunday afternoon.

The New York Post reported that Okon is homeless and has been arrested 25 times since 2018. His prior arrests include forcible touching, public lewdness, menacing, grand larceny, criminal mischief, and petty larceny. Okon was arrested at least three times in 2025, with his most recent prior arrest occurring in July 2025 for public lewdness on the Upper West Side.

He was arrested twice in June 2025. A 39-year-old woman was pushing her baby daughter in a stroller near Bryant Park when the attack occurred on a Saturday morning in broad daylight. Police said Okon threw a cellphone that struck the baby in the arm, then picked up the device and threw it at the mother, missing her.
