The father of the victim, identified by prosecutors as 30-year-old Juliann Bachmann of Bellport, was present and wept during the proceeding. McHenry was ordered held without bail.

Saturday at a Speedway gas station in Yaphank. Bystanders called 911 during the incident, but the suspect left the scene before police arrived. Bachmann was later pronounced dead at NYU Langone Hospital. m. Saturday. He faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with the assault.
Records show McHenry was sentenced to two to four years in state prison in 2024 on a second-degree attempted assault conviction. He was paroled in March.
