Man Charged With Wounding Six People and Carjacking in Prince George’s County
Prince George’s County police arrested a 68-year-old man on charges of attempted murder and carjacking after a series of shootings and a carjacking Friday. One victim remains in critical condition and another is fighting for their life.

Authorities took Larry Simpson into custody on attempted murder and carjacking charges. Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader said Mr. Simpson faces 66 charges in the spree.

Friday in the 5100 block of Pierce Avenue in College Park when a man pointed a long gun out of his car and opened fire. No one was injured in that shooting. Minutes later, the gunman fired at a 64-year-old driver near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Riverdale.
A bullet shattered the driver’s window and broken glass cut the man’s head. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect then crashed his car into another vehicle near the corner of 67th Avenue and Patterson Street in Riverdale.
He exited the vehicle and began shooting, injuring five people. The assailant carjacked and shot at a woman near the corner of Good Luck Road and Kenilworth Avenue. An off-duty Prince George’s County police officer, who was unarmed in his personal vehicle, observed the carjacking and began to follow the suspect.
The suspect attempted to carjack another driver in the 9000 block of Edmondston Road in Greenbelt and shot at the off-duty officer. Park Police officers arrived and helped take Mr. Officials recovered an AR-15 rifle from the scene.
One victim is fighting for their life and another is in critical condition, Chief Nader said. Mr. Simpson was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the car crash. He suggested that the spree ended because the suspect had run out of ammunition.
