A 42-year-old businessman was reportedly detained by police and taken to Lahbab station in the Dubai desert on Friday while attempting to gather £120,000. The detention marks the second reported custody in recent weeks. It follows a four-week period in custody at Al Awir prison over fraud-related matters that ended roughly a month earlier.
Prior financial matters The businessman faces two documented debt cases in the UAE. One case filed in June 2025 by Rotana Star Rent-a-Car concerns an unpaid vehicle hire agreement from 2022 valued at approximately 266,060 dirhams, or roughly £54,000.
A second case from January 2025 involves about 74,817 dirhams, or £15,000, owed to a UAE legal firm. A friend stated the businessman sent a message reading: "They've arrested me. " The same source said he had grown anxious while trying to secure funds he believed were outstanding.
Lahbab police station stated they had no record of the businessman being held at the facility. A spokeswoman for the businessman's wife declined to comment. GB News has reached out to the businessman for comment. Neither the businessman nor his wife has issued a public statement confirming his current whereabouts or whether the £120,000 sum has been formally ordered by a court.
