In a separate matter, two men were convicted at Sheffield Crown Court of sexual offences against girls aged 12 to 16 in the Barnsley and Doncaster areas during 2024. One defendant, Bawan Hawre, was found guilty on multiple counts including rape and arranging travel for exploitation.

The second defendant, Sharam Muhamadi, was convicted on two counts of arranging or facilitating travel for exploitation.

Police said Muhamadi failed to appear for part of the trial and is now the subject of a manhunt. Officers last saw him in Birmingham on 18 May and believe he remains in the country. Sentencing for the convicted men is set for 11 June at Sheffield Crown Court.
