abcnews.go.comA 25-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 35 years and 169 days for the murder of a 15-year-old boy and the attempted murder of another man at Woolwich Crown Court, BBC News reported. Aderahman Boumzough, of no fixed address, carried out the shooting on 21 July 2024 at Emslie Horniman's Pleasance Park in Ladbroke Grove, west London.
The attack occurred in a children's play area during a family music festival.
CCTV footage showed Boumzough approaching the play area and firing a single shot. He then chased a second man and attempted to shoot him, but the gun jammed and he fled. Boumzough was arrested and charged more than a year after the incident.
Police had offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Judge Simon James described the actions as callous and cold-blooded. The judge said a video on Boumzough's phone showed him rapping about the gun jamming and that Boumzough was proud and boastful about the crimes.
Rene Graham's mother, Janay John-Francois, said she could not begin to describe the depth of her pain after losing her precious angel. Det Ch Insp Alison Foxwell of the Metropolitan Police led the investigation.
