Manchester City and Chelsea agree record £116m and £117m deals for Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers
Manchester City struck a £116 million deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. Chelsea followed with a £117 million agreement for Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers, breaking the British transfer record twice in three weeks.

Manchester City and Chelsea completed transfers that broke the British record for the most expensive player twice within three weeks during the 2026 summer window, according to ESPN. The deals brought 23-year-old English players Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers to the clubs, making them the fourth- and fifth-most expensive players of all time and the 12th and 13th players whose transfers have cost £100 million or more, with eight of those deals completed since 2020.
Both players have been mainstays in the England national team since Thomas Tuchel took over in 2025. Elliot Anderson played a big part in saving Nottingham Forest from relegation in the 2025-26 season while Morgan Rogers powered Aston Villa to a fourth-place finish and a UEFA Champions League spot that season and scored a goal to help the club win the UEFA Europa League final.
Elliot Anderson won 297 duels in the Premier League last season, the most in the league, and recorded 3,308 touches of the ball, also the highest total.
Morgan Rogers tallied 25 goals and assists in all competitions. Both players appeared in more than 4,000 minutes in the Premier League. Manchester City needed a replacement for Bernardo Silva in midfield and a long-term Rodri replacement.
Elliot Anderson is contracted to Nottingham Forest until 2029. Morgan Rogers signed a contract extension with Aston Villa in November 2025 until 2031.
