Manchester United teenager Tyler Fletcher replaced injured midfielder Billy Gilmour in Scotland's World Cup squad. Napoli midfielder Gilmour sustained a knee injury in the first half, and his withdrawal was confirmed later that evening. Fletcher, who had been added to the training squad the previous week, has appeared in more matches for Scotland than for his club this season.

Head coach Steve Clarke said Gilmour had been an integral part of the qualifying campaign and expressed sympathy for the timing of the injury. Clarke noted that Fletcher impressed players and staff during his debut appearance. "I am devastated for Billy because he has been an integral part of our World Cup qualifying campaign," Clarke said.

Other young players added to the training squad last week included Rangers' Connor Barron and Andy Irving of Sparta Prague. The Scotland squad departs for Florida on Sunday ahead of a final warm-up match against Bolivia in New Jersey on 6 June. Scotland will face Haiti, Morocco and Brazil in Group C at the World Cup finals.
