Mango Vice-Chair Steps Down Temporarily During Father's Death Investigation
Jonathan Andic, son of Mango founder Isak Andic, announced Tuesday he is stepping aside as vice-chair while facing a Spanish court investigation into his father's December 2024 death. The 45-year-old maintains his innocence and disputes court findings about their relationship.
upi.comJonathan Andic, son of Mango founder Isak Andic, announced Tuesday he is stepping down temporarily as vice-chair of the fashion group after a Spanish court named him a suspect in his father's death. In an open letter, Andic said a one-sided public narrative had created a perception of guilt that bore no relation to reality.
He added that dismantling the narrative would require time, effort and intense dedication.
Andic died in December 2024 after falling more than 100 metres from a cliff while hiking with his son outside Barcelona. A judge's writ last week stated there was sufficient evidence to suggest the death may not have been accidental and that Jonathan Andic played an active and premeditated role.
The writ also said the father-son relationship had deteriorated because of Jonathan Andic's obsession with money, citing WhatsApp messages that expressed feelings of hatred, resentment and thoughts of death.
Mango's board issued a statement Tuesday expressing full confidence that the legal proceedings will be resolved favourably and trust that this will happen as swiftly as possible. Jonathan Andic, 45, was named executive vice-president of Mango's holding company in January 2025, about six weeks after his father's death. He and his two sisters jointly own 95 per cent of the company.
“We shared many happy, cherished and loving moments together. ”
Mango operates more than 2,900 stores worldwide, including 14 locations in Canada. Isak Andic founded the company in 1984 after moving from Istanbul to Catalonia in the 1960s.
