Manly fullback cleared of serious hamstring injury after scans

Scans cleared the Manly fullback of a serious hamstring injury after he left the field during Sunday’s 38-32 loss to the Gold Coast Titans. Club officials said the player suffered a low-grade strain to his right hamstring and could return in three weeks.

Earlier reports had suggested he might miss the remainder of the season, which includes finals that begin in just over seven weeks. The 29-year-old has now sustained nine hamstring injuries across eight seasons, including one earlier this year. Manly has lost its past three games and will host the Cronulla Sharks on Sunday before a bye the following week.

The Wests Tigers will appear before the judiciary in an attempt to clear two players for Saturday’s match against Canberra. Adam Doueihi faces a grade-two careless high tackle charge that could be downgraded to a fine, while Latu Fainu faces a grade-three dangerous contact charge that carries a potential three-match ban if upheld.

South Sydney will also seek a downgrade for David Fifita on a kicking charge involving a Canberra player.
