The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that forward Max Domi is out indefinitely after complications from offseason surgery. Domi, 31, scored 12 goals and 36 points in 80 games last season while playing through an injury, the team said. He has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $15 million contract signed in 2024.

“Domi will continue working with the club’s medical staff and will be re-evaluated at the start of training camp,” the Maple Leafs said in a statement. The team finished 32-36-14 and missed the postseason for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

Officials moved on from the previous general manager and later fired the head coach after his second season. The new general manager was hired after serving as the youngest general manager in league history with another franchise beginning in 2016. The franchise also added a former player as senior executive adviser.

The team received the first overall selection in the 2026 NHL Draft scheduled for June 26.
