Marcos says no plan to replace DILG Secretary Remulla
President Marcos stated on May 29 that he has no plans to replace DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla. He spoke during an interview in Tokyo at the end of a state visit.
manilatimes.netPresident Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Friday, May 29, that he has no plan to replace Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla amid speculation about the Cabinet official's position. Marcos made the statement during an interview with Philippine media in Tokyo at the end of his state visit.
" "I don't know why that rumor went around. I think somebody wants his job. Kaya 'kinakalat na matatanggal na siya para siguro ang inaasahan nila sila 'yung mailagay. Pero wala kaming pinaplano na ganyan," Marcos said.
Cabinet changes Marcos noted that the most recent Cabinet change was the appointment of a new Labor Secretary, Francis Tolentino, after the previous secretary resigned for health reasons. Tolentino ran under the administration ticket in the 2025 Senate race but lost.
The one-year appointment ban for losing candidates lapsed on May 13. Marcos said it was "possible" that other losing candidates from the 2025 elections could receive appointments in the coming days. "Possibly, possibly. Marami namang magagaling diyan.
I'm not talking just the senatorial candidates. Maraming iba na tumakbo for whatever position na sa palagay ko magagaling at makakapag-contribute sa pamahalaan," Marcos said. "So, don't be surprised if we start – we get more appointments from those candidates who ran in the last election who didn't make it.
Sayang naman.
