Mariners' Julio Rodriguez Projected to Return Saturday After Concussion
Seattle center fielder Julio Rodriguez is expected back in the lineup Saturday against the Giants following a July 3 placement on the seven-day injured list. He was hit in the head during a July 2 win over the Angels and completed pregame work Friday. General manager Justin Hollander voiced cautious optimism about his status.

Seattle Mariners center fielder Julio Rodriguez is projected to return to the lineup Saturday against the San Francisco Giants. Rodriguez was placed on the seven-day injured list on July 3 due to a concussion. He was struck by a ball in the back of the head during a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on July 2.
Rodriguez took part in pregame drills, ran the bases and was scheduled to take swings off a pitching machine on Friday, general manager Justin Hollander said. "It's been a couple of weeks, he hasn't done a lot of the things that you need to do in terms of full pregame, full activation, that sort of stuff. So, we'll see where he is after today," Hollander said.
Victor Robles started in Rodriguez's place and batted eighth on Friday night. The three-time All-Star played a career-high 160 games last season. 259 with 15 doubles, 14 home runs, 40 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.
All-Star utilityman Brendan Donovan began a rehab assignment for Triple-A Tacoma on Friday. Donovan was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left groin muscle strain in May and went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and a walk in a game for the Arizona Complex League team on Wednesday.
